On 4 December 2024, we set sail from Tenerife to the island of Sal in Cape Verde. A total of 800 nautical miles non-stop awaited us across the open Atlantic.
This passage was, for us, an unforgettable challenge and the most uncomfortable days of our sailing journey so far. We originally expected the journey to take around eight days. However, due to strong winds exceeding 40 knots in gusts and waves of more than 3 meters we completed it in just five days.
It was a clear reminder that weather forecasts can sometimes be more optimistic than reality, and that it is often better to remain cautious and make conservative decisions, especially on long offshore passages.
This passage is shared through four reels posted on the Sailing Marlin Instagram and Facebook accounts.
